Department of Public Works

The DPW supervisor and team members ensure the village is clean and well-maintained. Direct responsibilities include park maintenance, street signage, and snow plowing. The DPW supervisor oversees stormwater infrastructure repairs and upgrades, road maintenance and construction, sidewalk repair and replacement, etc.

Snow Plow Plan

  1. All Streets: With three inches or more of snow fall all streets will be plowed. Starting with major streets then moving to local streets. As the roads are being plowed, a salt and sand mixture may be applied at intersections and hills during the second pass to reduce icing conditions.
  2. Icy Road Conditions (Week Day or Weekend): If there is less than three inches of snow and icing conditions exist, a salt and sand mixture will be put down at all major intersections and hills.
  3. Weekend Plowing: With three inches or more of snow all streets will be plowed. Starting with major streets then moving to local streets. As the roads are being plowed, a salt and sand mixture may be applied at intersections and hills during the second pass to reduce icing conditions.
  4. Week Days Only: During regular working hours and after all streets have been plowed and salted, the sidewalks, bike path, Fourth Street parking lot and boat launch parking lot will be cleared. The section of the bike path spanning from the boat launch to Fourth Street parking lot that crosses the sledding hill will not be cleared.

Zoning Administrator

Local control of the use of land (with some exceptions, such as state and federal land uses) is an accepted legal principle. Land use is controlled through the separation of land into various use areas, called zoning districts. The rules governing these districts are contained in a zoning ordinance which includes provisions controlling the type and intensity of development allowed.

The current Zoning Ordinance was approved on November 18, 2019.
